Lifeway Kefir Review

Hey everyone!

I was recently sent a voucher from Influenster for a free Lifeway Kefir product, so I went ahead and tried it out!  I picked out the organic Strawberries n' Cream flavor.

Like me, you might be thinking "What the heck is kefir?".  Well, kefir is a cultured probiotic drink that is kind of like drinkable greek yogurt.  Although I eat Chobani greek yogurt on a regular basis I was very skeptical when I first tried this.  I expected it to have the overwhelming tanginess/tartness that most greek yogurts have.  I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised though!  The Lifeway kefir was sweet and creamy!  It had a bit of tanginess like greek yogurt, but it wasn't overpowering.  It was kind of like dessert for breakfast!

I also love that the Organic Lifeway kefir is rBGH free and 99% lactose free.  I always buy rBGH free milk, so it's nice to have that carry over into my other dairy products.  It also has 11 grams of protein per 1 cup serving!  I really didn't expect that.  I know my typical greek yogurt has about that much protein, but I figured the kefir would have less since it isn't super thick like the greek yogurt.

This might sound weird, but another perk of the kefir for me was that is was so "easy" to eat.  Let me explain.  I like greek yogurt and I love the health benefits and protein it gives me, but sometimes I get so overwhelmed trying to finish a whole serving.  It's so tart, thick and filling that I have a hard time finishing the fruits and veggies that I've prepared to have alongside it.  The kefir, however, goes down so smoothly that I have to remind myself to savor it.

I really like the Lifeway kefir and will definitely be buying more!  I was sent another coupon for $1 off of two Lifeway products, so I think I want to try the Blueberry and Chocolate Truffle flavors next!  I will be sure to shares my thoughts after I've tried them!

Have you tried kefir before?  What about greek yogurt?  Let me know what you think!
